The Cross tee can be divided into equal diameter and reducing diameter. The nozzle ends of the equal diameter Cross tee are the same size. The main nozzle size of the reducing Cross tee is the same, and the nozzle size of the branch pipe is smaller than that of the main pipe. A cross is a pipe fitting used at the branch of a pipe.
As for the seamless pipe used to make the cross, there are two commonly used processes: hydraulic bulging and hot pressing. The hydraulic bulging process of the cross can be formed in one time with high production efficiency; the wall thickness of the main pipe and shoulder of the cross is increased. Due to the large tonnage of equipment required for the hydraulic bulging process of seamless cross, it is mainly used for the manufacture of standard wall thickness cross less than dn400. The applicable forming materials are mainly low carbon steel with relatively low cold work hardening tendency. Different from hydraulic bulging, the metal of hot pressed cross branch pipe is compensated by the radial movement of tube blank, so it is also called radial compensation process.
Due to the adoption of pressing four joints after heating, the tonnage of equipment needed for material forming is reduced. Hot pressed cross has wide adaptability to materials, and it is usually used for cross with large diameter and thick pipe wall.
The inner wall of socket welding cross is often corroded. It should be inspected and treated well to ensure that socket welding cross has good application characteristics and value. After putrefaction, the wall of socket welded cross becomes thinner, showing local pits and pockmarks. It needs to be handled and maintained according to specific methods.
Carbon steel cross generally contains a small amount of silicon, manganese, sulfur and phosphorus in addition to carbon. According to its use, carbon steel can be divided into three categories: carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel and free cutting structural steel.
Carbon structural steel is divided into building structural steel and machine manufacturing structural steel. Generally speaking, the higher the carbon content in the carbon steel, the higher the hardness and the strength, but the lower the plasticity. It mainly refers to the steel whose mechanical properties depend on the carbon content in the steel, but generally does not add a lot of alloy elements. Sometimes it is also called ordinary carbon steel or carbon steel.
