Malleable Iron pipe cap can be melted by acid or alkaline cupola, or by electric arc furnace, coreless or cored induction furnace and reflection furnace.The main problems to be considered in the melting of Malleable Iron pipe cap are as follows:

At present, the production of Malleable Iron pipe cap at home and abroad mostly adopts the method of adding alloy containing a certain amount of modified elements into iron water for modification.The operation process is similar to spheroidizing treatment of nodular cast iron, and the upper and lower limits of modifying elements required by Malleable Iron pipe cap are very narrow.
Therefore, on the one hand, it is necessary to develop a suitable modified Malleable Iron alloy, so that it has a large amount of scope.On the other hand, measures are taken in the treatment process to make the process factors as stable as possible and the absorption rate of modified elements as high and uniform as possible.

Normalizing treatment is one of the effective ways to obtain pearlite matrix.The reasonable selection of normalizing temperature is one of the key factors.The increase of normalizing temperature and holding time in a certain range can significantly increase the pearlite content in the matrix.
If the normalizing temperature is lower than 900 ℃, no matter how long the holding time is, it is difficult to get the matrix structure with pearlite content greater than 80%.Therefore, the proper normalizing temperature should be above 950 ℃.
The high temperature and overheating of molten iron is the first condition to improve the casting quality of steel pipe cap.The study on the metallurgical properties of molten iron shows that the cast iron remains heterogeneous for a long time after melting.
Overheating at high temperature can accelerate the process of carbon dissolution and molten iron homogenization.
