The difference between a 45 degree elbow and a 90 degree elbow is that a 90 degree elbow forms a right angle, while a 45 degree elbow is an obtuse angle. In application, two 45 degree elbows can not be welded into 90 degree elbows for use, because elbows are stress concentration areas on pipes, and most of the stress of expansion and cooling deformation are released at elbows. In addition, the weld itself should be a weak link, and fatigue deformation will soon cause cracking damage and loss.
