Pipe cap, also known as head, plug, cover, pipe cover and bulkhead, is welded on the pipe end or installed on the external thread of the pipe end to cover the pipe fittings. It is used to close the pipeline and has the same function as the pipe plug.
The form of the pipe cap is similar to that of the blind plate, except that the blind plate can be removed for sealing, while the welded pipe cap cannot be removed. The pipe cap includes convex pipe cap, cone shell, variable diameter section, flat cover and shrink mouth design.
The cap is mainly convex, including hemispherical cap, elliptical cap, dished cap and spherical cap. From the stress point of view, the hemispherical cap is not good gradually, but from the manufacturing difficulty, it is good gradually.Stainless steel pipe cap refers to the pipe cap made of stainless steel, mainly including: 304 304L 316 316L 321 2520 310, 317 and other materials.

Butt welded pipe cap refers to the way of welding when it is used. During splicing, the direction of weld is only allowed to be radial and circumferential. This requirement may be canceled for large caps in the future. The splicing distance shall be more than 3 δ and not less than 100 mm (the heat affected zone of welding is a high stress zone, and the chemical composition in the zone will be burnt.
Therefore, high stress area should be avoided, which is related to thickness. According to practical experience, the stress attenuation length is more than 3 δ, and not less than 100 mm). However, it is difficult for refrigeration equipment to meet this requirement.
For the butt welded stainless steel pipe cap formed after splicing, the splicing weld shall be subject to 100% ray or ultrasonic testing, and the qualification level is the same as that of the equipment shell. The inspection level and proportion of the final formed weld are the same as that of the equipment shell.
